THE WOMB OF TIME

Perilous Press is proud to announce the next release in its New Millennium Mythos series, THE WOMB OF TIME by Brian Stableford. The volume will contain the title novella as well as "The Legacy Of Erich Zann."

Brian Stableford is a past master of British New Wave fantasy and science fiction, with over 50 novels and seven collections to his credit. A literary scholar with one hundred translated volumes, Stableford is also an adept craftsman at literary pastiche, but his true skill lies in subverting familiar subjects into new and dangerous shapes. Thus, in The Womb Of Time, what the pilgrims to the ruined town of Dunwich witness on the exposed sea floor is far more subtle than the average tentacular potboiler, but strikes at the heart of the dreaded Cthulhu archetype as no other work has yet dared.

"The Legacy Of Erich Zann" is a sequel of sorts to Lovecraft's short masterpiece, but Stableford injects Poe's seminal master detective Auguste Dupin into a diabolical mystery that pits the unflappable against the unthinkable.

Edited with an introduction by S.T. Joshi, with sublime artwork by Cyril Van Der Haegen, THE WOMB OF TIME is a groundbreaking vivisection of the meaning and mystery of the Cthulhu Mythos.

The first collection of short horror fiction from Cody Goodfellow will be released by Swallowdown Press, an alleged division of Eraserhead Enterprises. Originally planned and advertised as a Perilous Press release, SILENT WEAPONS FOR QUIET WARS was snatched away from narcoleptic Perilous editors in a brief but fierce bidding war, which Swallowdown CEO Jeremy Robert Johnson won handily after tendering "a lot of crazy promises."

The collection will include “Burning Names” (Cemetery Dance #51), “A Drop Of Ruby (Third Alternative #41) and “Magna Mater” (Hot Blood XIII: Dark Passions), and Johnson “totally swears” it will be available this October in a trade paperback edition with cover art by Alan Clark.

MICHAEL SHEA ON TOUR!

MICHAEL SHEA will tour West Coast bookstores in early 2010 to promote his new Tor release The Extra, and Perilous Press will be attached, remora-like, to his mighty flanks, to feast on his leavings. Shea and Cody Goodfellow will sign Friday, February 12th at 7PM, at DARK DELICACIES in Burbank, and reading and signing on Saturday, February 13th at 2PM at Mysterious Galaxy in San Diego. Shea will also be appearing at Borderlands Books in San Francisco and Dark Carnival in Berkeley...check their sites for dates and updates.

DIET SECRETS OF THE GODS

As part of its new online reincarnation, Dark Recesses is currently featuring a FREE serialized novelette by Cody Goodfellow.

Though they’re trying like hell to keep it a secret, TALES OUT OF MISKATONIC UNIVERSITY is due out this fall from Mythos Books. Dean William Jones turns over the campus to a collegial faculty of defrocked professors for a crash course in blasphemy. Richard Lupoff will chair the "Admissions Committee," while Robert M. Price, Tim Curran and CJ Henderson will be overseeing the new theology, archaeology and Medieval History curricula. Cody Goodfellow takes over the medical school with his sickening syllabus, "The Anatomy Lesson."
